Selenite is a popular stone used for cleansing and energy manipulation. It’s named after Selene, the Greek

goddess of the moon, and has a strong connection to lunar energy and magick. Pieces of Selenite are often left out to act as energy filters and don’t require much cleansing, if at all. Leave your Selenite with other stones and tools under the full moon to super-cleanse and reinvigorate them.

Care: Selenite is very soft and will chip and break easily, especially in unpolished forms. Keep it protected and avoid scratching to prevent dust from forming. Selenite will dissolve in water so take extra care to not get it wet.

Geological Information: Selenite is a variety of Gypsum, a Sulfate mineral. It’s very close cousins with other Gypsum minerals known as Satin Spar, Alabastor, and more. It is a 2 on the Mohs Hardness scale. Gypsum can be found in layered sedentary deposits all over the world. (from Geology.com)
